LIVE STOCK SALES.

Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report haying' held their Hutt salo nn Thursday, when they offered a heavy yarding of, both sheep and cattle. Buyers attended in large numbers, and - a spirited 6ale resulted. The special entry of sheep and cattle on account of Mr. C. Greenfield brought excellent prices. Tho following sales wore effected Sheep: Fat ewes, 18s. 9d. to 205.; f .f.m. breeding ewes, 16s. Bd. to 16s, 10d.: medium woolly Jambs, lis. 3d.: small woolly lambs, Cs. lid. to 9s. Id.; culled 2-tooths. 13s. 9d.; forward lambs, 13s. 7d. Oattle: Cows: close to profit, £7 18s. to £9; spring heifers, £6 to £9; cows, late calvcrs, £5 15s. to £6 17s. 6d.; fat cowa, £6 to £7 18s.: forward cows, £4 18s. to £5 10a.; mixed woanors, £1 10s.; 9 extra, good weancr heifers on account of Mr. Greenfield made tho satisfactory prico of £2 13s. 6d. Mr. Greenfield's herd of dairy cows, late calveis, was sold in a lino at £5 6s. 811113, £4 to £5 65.; store cows, £2 15s. to £3 12s. ,6d. " Messrs. Dajgety and Company, Limited, report having held a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr. L. W. Ferguson at the homestead, near Otaki, on Wednesday, Exceptionally keen competition took placo for all lines. Tho stock was yarded in first-class order, which reflected credit on, the vendors' management. Some of tile principal sales were as under:—Sheep: 350 2 , 4, and 6-tooth Romncy cross ewes, 19s. 7d.; ICO 4 and 5-ycar-old lioraney-eross cwe6, 16s. 4d.; 150 medium shorn lambs, 12s. 9d.; 160 small 6horn lambs, 9s.' 3d. Cattle: There was good competition for the herd of dairy coivs offored, and prices ranged from £6 12s. 6d. to £10 7s. 6r1.; 15-month heifers, £2 145.; 18-moii'Ji steers. £3 Is. A nice line of 11 2-year-old heifers made £5 13s. 6d. Good weancrs, £2 25.; fipringlnl; heifens, £6 IPs. to £9 2s. 6d.; 3-year-old steers. £6 15s. 6d. Tho New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Levin, report:—At our Upper Hutt sale 011 Thursday we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle, and havo to report a total clearance under the hammer at prices in vendore' favour. We fltiotc:—Store lambs, to 4n. 10d.; 2-tooth wethers (smallj, to 145.; old rams,' to ss. 6d.; wcancr steers, to 30si; springing heifers, £5 ss. to £5 12s. 6d.; forward springing heifers, to £6 Is.; heifers, just calved, £6 to £7; young springing cows, to £6 155.; forward springing cows, to £7 55.; Jorscy spring cows, £9 12s. 6d. to £10; Jlolstcin springing cowa, to £9 2s. 6d.; light fat bullocks, to £7 17s. 6d. 1 The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Acency Co., Ltd., report having held their annual autumn Cattle fair in the Farmers' Yards, Pahiatua, on Wednesday,'when they offered an entry, of 1400, head of cattle, which they submitted to a large and representative attendance of buyers from Ilawlte's Bay, Wairarapa, and Manawntii. Competition for the first few pens was 6omcwhat slow, but brightened up as the sale proceeded, and continued animated right through tho sale. A splendid clearance was made, at prices which must have -been very satisfactory to a few vendors. The following are a few of the chief sales:—l2s bullocks, at £8 fls.; 21 cows ahd calves. £7 10s.: 47 6tore cows, £4 175.; 25 18-months Polled Angus heifers, £5 9s. 6d.
