PRESIDENT APPEALS TO JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER. Br Tekirraph.—Press Association—Copyrieh t Washington, April 27. President Wilson, has appealed to Mr. J. D. Rockefeller, tho largest owner of Colorado mines, where fighting is still proceeding between strikers and police, to attempt to restore peace, as ho (the President) is unable to dispatch any. troops to the strike area owing to tho Mexican trouble. Half a million miners in lowa threaten to strike unless a settlement is effected.
. 'ANOTHER BATTLE FOUGHT. _(Rcc. April 28, 10.5 p.m.) Donver (Colorado), April 27. Tho strikers in an encounter with mine-guards, fought a battle- near Walzenburg. • One mail was killed, and several buildings were burned. Appeals for Federal troops to suppress the riots havo been fruitless as tho Government requires all the available men in Mexico. Wr. Rockefeller has refused to announce whether ho will use his influence to 'restoro peace or not.
