ANNUAL REPORT.
' The annual meeting of St. Thomas's i Parochial District, Weliragtoa South, [ will bo held to-morrow evening. The annoal report of the vestry ; slates that attendances improved dur- '. ing tho year, and communicants _ increased. The finances showed a slight improvement, and the year was com* pleted with, a small eurplue. The resort continues: "The general offertories had an. upward i-ncii-nation, while the austen-atien fund and subscriptions by envelopes are practically the same in the aggregate as last yen.r,; the- few collectors for the js-uste-natiori .fund deservo credit for their self-imposed labours! bat the fund could bo placed oa a more satisfactory basis if double the number of volunteers to collect Were available, so that the parish could be systematically divided and canvassed, especially as the assessment tor stipends should be increased as early as practicable. The vicarage debt has reduced by £136, debentures to that amount have been redeemed; this was ■made possible b:v the 'Maori Pa* Bazaar proceeds (£123), and an anonymous donation, of £25. The annual stages for interest, etc, being reduced) the general aceouni ean be relieved of a corresponding amount of the assessmeut ;■ duxitig the year, a grant of £50 from the hall account enabled this charge to be met. We also desire to gratefully acknowledge the proceeds of a concert by the 'Frivolities' entertainers for this i'trod. The debt upon the vicarage now stands at £778, aiid the debentures ■empire in Wl6. . ._ . The church buildings will soon require attention, especially the repainting of the exterior, including the front fence. The infant school and club' rbotn floors need prompt attention, and towards this, or any additions, t'ftft Horiticflltural Show" Committee voted the balance of the proceeds (about £7). ' The interior of the church has received attention.
