At 4 p.m. a WoW<ont occurred of a violent* never before equalled. The pressure of. gaa was tremendous, and' Water, Bind, and oil were forced 7 upwards and surrounded the derrick. Tito noise- was deafening, and the gas fumes made breathing in tire derrick difficult. About 40 barrels of oil were recovered. Two hours later the ebullition of gas was still continuing. It is expected when this- subsides that ©il will Be reached.
