HARDWARE GUP. [ On Saturday, at Trentham, tie eirtfi annual' match was fired for the Hardware Rifle Cup. The previous Cup was won outright by Mills's team list year, so a. new cup was presented by the firm of Messrs. Briscoe and Co., Ltd;, J. Duthie and Co., Ltd,,- &• W. Mills and Co., Ltd., C. and A. Odlln Co., Ltd., and the Stewart Coy,, Ltd, Thio year four teams competed- The con* '. ditions were seven shots each at Sfl&and 500 yards, D.R.A. targets. On the commencement of the match at • 300 yards the weather was very threatening, the heavy rain clouds dausifjg a very dull light, and making it difficult to pick up the figure target. ■ Shortly after the start the rain feil.ial earnest, making matters very uncomfortable. The scores here were poor,. Maisey (Odlins) and:Marshall:..(Mills).each with 33, registering the best figures. Odlin's team, 6hooting splendidly, got clear away from the field, securing the long lead of 61 points, the total being: Odlin's, 269, Duthie's 208, Stewart's 208; and Mills's 202. With the start of tie 500 yards, a veritable deluge of rain descended, making the greeft, browns and grey figure tarkets semi-inyisible. The ■ best totals wqre made i.v ifart (Duthio's), Carter- and Marshall (Mills's), each with 31.. The leaders held their advantage, tlis scores at 500 rards beinc: Odlin's 232, Milk's 21?, Duthie's 192. Stewart's retired at tbis range. Tliis left Odlin's easy winners with the really good score of 501, boing followed by Mills's 41!), and Duthio's 400. Tbe highest, ecore i" tho match was made •by K. Marshall (Mills's) with 64, L.
