According to tho latest advices tho Prime ' Minister (tho Hon. '-W. F. Ma'ssey) is at Waipu (north of Auckland) ; tho Hon. James Allen is in Duncdin; and the Hon. R. H. Rhodes is at tie military camp at Kowai (Canterbury). The Hon. Wm. Fraser is in Now Plymouth, and the Hons. F. M. B. Fisher, W. H. Herries, A. L. Herdman, H. D. Bell, and Dr. Pomaro aro in Wellington. The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher leaves for the south to-night. He will speak either in Cliristchurch or some other Canterbury centre, and will then continue on south to Invercargill, visiting several of tho Southland centres, and returning to Wellington via tho West Coast. Mr. W. A. Kennedy, local manager for the Union Steam Ship Company, who has been on a holiday trip to Tahiti, is a passenger tho Aorangi, due here to-day from San Francisco via tho Islands. Mr. W. 3J. Morton (City Engineer) left on. a holiday trip to Sydney and Melbourne by the Willochra last evening. . Tho Rev. Father Hickson Is making a rapid recovery from tho injuries he sustaiued in a recent motor accident. Mr. ,E. Wright, representing the Eastern Extension Cable Company in Sydney, is at present visiting New Zealand. Ho'left Wellington last evening on" a visit to Wakapuaka, and will return in tho course of a day or two. Tho Rev. Percy W. Clarkson, whoso ■work as financial organiser for the Bible-in-State-Schools Leaguo is well known, is afc present visiting Wellington upon financial work in connection ■with tho leaguo. The appointment of Mr. James Mackenzie, Under-Secretary of Lands, to bo a member of tho Board of Land Purchase Commissioners, vice Mr. J. Strauchon, retired, is gazotted. Mr. H. Bcauchamp left for Sydney by tho Willochra yesterday. Mr. J. M. Lightfoot, manager of tho Carterton ;brancn of the Bank of New South Wales, who is leaving on transfer to Blenheim, wa3 met by a number of bank clients after closing hours on Wednesday afternoon, and presented with a purso of sovereigns as a token of appreciation. Messrs. John Adair and Frank Tout, of Gisborne, are visitors to Wellington. Mr. Talboys, tramways engineer to the Wsinganui Borough Council, leaves for Wanganui to-day after a brief stay in this city. Whilst hero Mr. Talboys inspected the new electric petrol motor wagon, which so impressed • the City Council authorities that '.thrco have been ordered for tramway auxiliary work in the city. •
Another old identity of this district in' tho person of Mr. R. E. Harcomb ' passed away, yesterday at the age of seventy-eight years, says our Masterton correspondent. Deceased arrived in Now Zealand in 1874, and had'lived in Masterton for .thirty-four years. For twenty-five years ho occupied a. clerical position in tho Agricultural Department. He leaves throe sons. Mr. J, M.
