Macdonakl, the following resolution was unanimously passed at a well-attended meeting of tho New Zealand Land Values League last night, Mr. Arthur Withy presiding:— ''That this meeting of the New Zealand Land Values League- strongly protests against the failure of Sir Joseph Ward to definitely state in his speech at tho Wellington Town Hall his proposals in regard to the revision of onr taxation system ho declared to bo necessary at Win ton. That this league holds that no revision of taxation can bo satisfactory which does not considerably reduce tho heavy Customs tax burden, now borne by the workers and does not replace such taxation by a substantial increase of tho ordinary land tax, which necessarily applies to both town and country, and cannot bo evaded by bogus subdivisions."
Mr. Itocho said that Sir Joseph Ward need liavo no fear that tho Ma-ssey .Ministry would steal such a policy as that, and ho,held, therefore, that thoro was no possible excuse for Sir Joseph Ward not straightforwardly and forthwith declaring where ho stood, in regard to it.
Mr. Macdonald said that tho utter lack of n real, livo policy in Sir Joseph Ward's speech, and tho time wasted in more partisan sparring, bad made him tired, and that other people worn also tired was shown by the considerable number who drifted out during tho meeting.
