HUTT & PETONE NEWS.
(From Oar Special Correspondent.) It was reported-to the Petono polico on Monday that a, yacht, which had left ! Petone for n cruiso round the harbour and which contained Messrs. N. and F. 1 Avison, Bould, and Edmonds, was in i difficulties. It was subsequently ascer- ; tained, however, that tho party had put ■ in at Lbwry Bay yesterday, all safe, although it is understood that the littlo craft had capsized. The Rev. S. J. Sorpell, of Masterto.n, presided at tho quarterly meeting of tho Lower Hutt Methodist Church yesterday. The balance-sheet showed the total receipts to be £77 9s. lOd., and the oxpondituro £76 3s. 2d., leaving a credit balance of £1 6s. Bd., which was considered satisfactory. Tho resignation of Mrs. Hall, the congregation's representative on tho Quarterly Board, •was received with regret. It was decided to tender a social reunion -welcome to tho Rev. Mr. Beckett on Friday, 'April 24.
