WHITE WOLF'S AGENTS

GANG IN VANCOUVER RAISING FUNDS BY MURDER AND ROBBERY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright "Times" and Sydney "Sun" Service. Vancouver, April 13. An investigation regarding the murder of a Mrs. Millard reveals the existence of an active revolutionary society amongst tho Chinese in Vancouver. One, Jack Kong, had been stealing, regularly from tho Millards in order to get monev to send to "White Wolf" (tho bandit leader). Chinese in Vancouver dispatched last December a shipment of rifles and revolvers, valued at £800. The Chinese authorities, discovered this too late to block the importation. It is believed that tho society to which Kong belongs is arranging to send another shipment to the "White Wolf."

Recent letters received by the French Catholic Fathers in Shanghai, states Renter's correspondent, described the sack of Liunchow by "White Wolf" and. tho murder of Father Rich, tho bare facts pf which have already been telegraphed. Hie four Fathers, Rich, Gibert, Allain, nnd do la Taille, had assembled at Liunchow to spend the China New Year holiday in retreat. At 4.30 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, the Fathers were awakened by a. general uproar, and found part of the town in flames. Later tho doors of the mission were broken in, and bandits rushed in demanding money and arms. After a parley the men grew, somewhat calmer, Out they plundered tho house, and then said that Fathers Gilbert, Allain, and de la Taille must come before "White Wotf." Father. Eich .was left behind, being -the oldest. The three Fathers were then led away, being very roughly handled, their beards being pulled and other insults put on them as they passed through the town, which was burning fiercely in many places. One of the robbers appeared milder than the others, and from him .Father Gilbert got' leave to return to the mission to- protect if he could Father Rich. The first thing he found on entering the garden was Father Rich's body covered with a sheet. It anpoars that when Father Rich was left behind lie had gone into the church to pray. As he was going back-towards tho house he was met by two robbers, who fired at him. Both shots struck and killed him immediately. A servant subsequently managed to cover the body, where it lay unobserved. Father •Gilbert, with Father Allain and Father de la Taille, was brought before "White Wolf," a very imposing-looking personage. He treated them courteously, and appeared greatly annoyed at tho murder of .Father Rich, saying that ho had no animosity against the Roman Catholic Church. He protected the Fathers and allowed them to bury Father Rich with full rites. The three Fathers subsequently reached a place of safety.
