SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.

Eastertide has been a busy season in tho rooms cf tho Sailors' Friend Society. On Good Friday the Mission® preached to largo congregations. In the evening Madamo Mueller and lier soloists gavo valuable assistance by rendering seasonable music. On Easter Pay there were large congregations. At the evening service tho seating capacity was taxed to tho utmost. Tho Missioiicr preached on "Victor Then, Victor Now," and "Easter Hope." The lessons were read by 3lr. J. S. Cummings, honorary assist; ant missioner, and Miss Shaw presided at tho piano, tho Misses Fontaimo and Pickett being tho soloists. Ati all-day picnic ivas held yesterday, irhen the large party took tram to tho Botaiwcal Gardens, where all kinds of games were hold. Tho following won prizes:— Messrs. Wraight (2), Elliot (2), Ketm>thonie, King, Gibb, R-otimami, Addison, Lewis, and Johnstone. Mr. Addison won tho si\ver modal presented by a friend. . The prizes were donated and hospitality extended to the party by workers and friends of tho society. _ A grand concert was hold in L the evening, when .Madame Mueller presented a delightful programme to a crowded audionce. Mr. J. .Moore, Missioner, occupied tho chair. The following contributed items:—Madame Mueller, Misses Wilson, Fairclough, Harte. Pickett, Messrs. Downes, Elliot (s.s. Jcserki, Culverwell, Hann (s.s. Jeseric), Kerridge (s.s. Hinenioa), and Stanu (s.s. Hinemoa). Airs. Downes and Miss Pa-i.il played tho accompaniments. Hearty cheers were given by the men to the performers and to nil who assisted in making the day such a success.
