Racing in Hawke's Bay has advanced so rapidly that the club's committee decided it was useless trying to keep pace with the progress by making additions ' and alterations to buildings. Messrs.'" Lutrell • Bros., architects, _of Christchu'rch, were consequently appointed to adviso tho committee, and submitted plans for a now set of buildings. These plans Were accepted by tho committee in toto. The work was commenced on January 5, and tho buildings aro to bo completed for the Cup meeting, which takes place on May 6 'and" 7. The building of tho offioial stand is in brick, tho lower floor being'tho secretary's office, jockey's dressing and weighing room. 1 The first floor will contain stewards' room and Press. room, a balcony for stewards, Press, and jockeys' and trainers' stand. _Od top of this is a stand • which it is proposed. to reseryo for members.
