.VICTORIA COLLEGE WINS. .. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstchureh, April 12. .The University debating tournament was held at tho King's Theatre last right. The subject was: ''That democracy, as typified in the labour movement, is detrimental to the national character." Some of the speakers got a good hearing, but others did not, and towards the latter end the proceedings were very noisy, flhe decision of the judges was:—Victoria College, 1; Auckland, 2. Otago and Canterbury University Colleges also competed.
