POLICE BUSINESS
Tho polico cases at tho Magistrate's Court on Thursday wero dealt with bv Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. John Dobcrt Wiltshire and George Grosley pleaded guilty ta a chargo <f having created a breach of tlio penco in Dixon Street. Wiltshire was lined JEI, and Grosley wns lined 10s.
James Harris pleaded guilty to a chnrfio of eroding payment of his passago money between Sydney aiid Wellington on tho , steamer Moeraki. The Magistrate ordered accused to pay the passage money £4 45., in default eoven days' imprisonment.
For insobriety, Charles M'Aiinally was convicted and discharged, and on a charge- of failing to comply with a niaintchanco order in respect of a child in tho Industrial School, which was £10 ss. in arrears, ho was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, warrant to be suspended on tho payment of £7.
A plea of guilty was entered by Gtorgo Ingmero when charged with failing to provido for tho maintenance! of his illegitimate child. Hβ was ordered to pay 7s. Gd. per week towards the maintenance of tho child, and a sum'cf £3 125., being tho balauco of medical expenses incurred by the mother. Two first offenders charged witH insobriety were convicted and discharged.
