HEMP & TOW MARCH GRADING RETURNS. . ■ Tho Department of Agriculture ndvise that tho total numoer- of bales of-hemp gradeil at tho ports of the Dominion:during March was 14,455, as compared with 17,353 for tho corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 3098 bales. For .-the tweivo months ended March ill, the number of bales graded was 160,249, as; compared with 120,512'f0r the previous twelve mouths, tho increase being 39,707 bales, Details of the grading are:— Good- High Low Cojn- ■ Port. .- Pine. fair, pnt. luon. During the month 4484 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 6439 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 1955' bales. For tho twelve months ended March 31 tho number of bales graded was 52,213, -as - compared with -10,933 for tho previous tfrelve mouths, an increase of-11,280 bales.. Sydney,.April 7. The Royal Horse Show opened in fine , weather. There are 8500 entries and over £7000 in priiie money. , The New Zealand awards included:— Thoroughbred stallion—Don Haniiibal, third. . Trotting stallion, four years and over —Ribbomyood, first; Belmont, second. Ribbonwood's progeny secured first and second in the; one-year trotting stallion class, first and third in the brood mares, .three years and over class, and first in the one-year filly class.' ~ ; , Flavinius won the '.honours in" the champion stallion' class.. '• ■■ v ' ... V.. .'''(Rec. April.'B, o.lo' .•';, ' \' ' ;, Sydney r April !■;. The rains a few weeks.'ago ensured'a splendid attendance at the Show. The exhibits were an excellent lot in piactically all departments. Additional awards are:— Clydesdale Stallion Class, four years and over—Mount Royal, 1. Three years' class: Sir Garland, 2. Two years' class: The New Zealand-bred TJn-to-Dato, 2. Active farm Clydesdale mare—Lady Ida, 1. Heavy Clydesdale males, four years and over—Princess Fanny, 1 and champion. All tho.former were New Zealand bred. The best display of sheep was sent in hy Mr. John Nixon, who secured all the prizes in English Leicesters, being the only exhibitor.
