IMPROVED CABLE REPORT. i • Tho Department of Agriculture is about to have prepared a.;new telegraphic code for the,> purpose of transmitting the High Commissioner's Homo market quotations for and general l-e----marks regarding Neiv Zealand produce. In order that the code may be as complete as possible, and that the information may be given in the form best applicable to tho requirements of; producers and merchants: throughout the. Dominion, the Department has written to the Wellington Chamber of merce. for suggestions as to improvements, and also any particulars concerning other products which it is_ considered may 3 if.cabled, be of benefit to .producers and merchants. The ; Cliambcr of | Commerce has written to several firms in connection with the matter, and the Gear Meat Company, in replying, stated that the information at present supplied by tho High Commissioner is fairly full and satisfactory, and reasonably- meets the requirements of the producers. Naturally the company ,in any, event had to supplement this by special advices from its own London olfice. Another firm wrote offering two suggestions: The letter stated: (1) That the .quotations given in the High Commissioners' cablegram ' were not fair averago of the average quality, but rather average prices Ton the week of the choice qualities; (2) suggesting that the High Commissioner should allow the London representatives of Now Zealand firms to peruse the Commissioner's reports after they were sent out. Tho matter was discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Mr. J. Macintosh thought that the High Commissioner should be left to decide what to send out. ; Mr. W. J: Thompson: "Is,there any good purposo in having these reports?" . Mr. Macintosh: "Oh, yes." j Mr. Thompson: "Firms having busi-, 1 ness here supplement it by cablegrams from their own representatives ?" Mr. Macintosh: "They don't rely on it." Mr. Thompson: "Then if they dou t relv on it, what is tho good of having it?" , . . It was decided to defer teplyiug to the communication till replies had been received from the various firms written to on tho subject. The world exacts from you its toll of worry and work —there a no need for yon to add to it. Make things as easy as you can—"Victor" Vats lighten labour and "help increase the quality of the cheese. "Victor" Vats have that sloping bottom which caused such a sensation in the cheese-making world Every factory should have "Victor" Vats, they are buufc for efficiency and satisfaction.
