'At a -meeting of. tho Canterbury Fruit arowers,' Association last 'night,-, further discussion tookplace ro tho proposed crchai>d : tax. -It -was-'deckled that tho association approved of..tho-principle of an orchard tas, .aiul.'that a' tax of not incro than 6d. per .acre bo levied, on all orchards over, two years old.' A motion was also carried that tho. association did not intend to'-withdraw-its-support from tho federation; and that questions of finance bo left to .tho,,federation to decide. The association also suggested that tho .Government.'bo. asked to sub-, sidiso tho federation to tho extent of £500 to friable it to build up and foster tho industry.
