After an interview Senator Jones— wlio recently stated that President Will soil was doterminod to secure the repeal of the tolls exemption clause because he had recently conferred wifrb Sir Lionel Carden (Envoy-Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary in Central America), when an agreement -was reached that Great Britain would assist the United States to maintain the Monroe doctrine, which the Mexican situation threatened—has withdrawa his statements, but pressed his motion for the production of correspondence between the United States and foreign Governments in regard to tho tolls exemptions, consideration of- which was deferred. - ' ■
