SOCIAL DEMOCRATS.
Mr. R. Semple, organiser of the Federatiou:bf Labour; addressed a crowded meeting in the Opera House last evening. Mr. H. Holland, who presided, also spoke briefly his topic being the municipal campaign in which he figures as tho Social Democratic candidate for the Wellington Mayoralty. Mr. Semple spoke of his recent visit to Australia and of the industrial and political movement in which has party is engaged. He stated that' in Australia ho had received assurances of support for the movement in New Zealand. The Social Democratic movement, he declared, was tho only one calculated to make tho workers absoluto masters of the situation, and lie distributed, abuse impartially to the -two main parties in New Zealand politics; He spoke contemptuously of tho resolution passed tho other evening at the meeting addressed by Mr..Atmore in tho Town Hall, and stated incidentally that Mr. La racy (secretary of the Shearers' Union), who moved it, had been made use of by tho Liboral Party.
