THE CROWNING, (By TeleEra-ph.—Presn Asseciation.) Wangariui, March SO. A unique ceremony was-witnessed twilight, when, in the presence of a parked audience, Mrs. Gregor M'Gregor was crowned Queen of the Carnival. The lady is a full-blooded Maori at' high lineage, and • the ceremony was appropriate to the occasion. Sir James Civ*, roll officiated and the Queen of the-' Carnival was attended by leading local ladies who wee candidates lor election. They acted as maids of honour, and a largo number of Maoris participated in a most interesting programmsi, of which war songs and dances formed the chief feature.
