SIX MONTHS' NET PROFIT £1238.
- The first statement of the finances of the Eastbourne Ferry Board (which controls the Eastbourne Borough Council's Harbour Ferry Service), sineo the steamers Duchess and Cobaf were pur-' chased from th& 'Wellington Harbour Ferries,. Ltd., was made available to the Press yesterday by the Ma,Vo'r (Mr, W. J. Organ). In brief the figures indicate, that after paying all expenses, hi*eluding depreciation on the steamers and plant, there is a net profit of £I*2BB la. od. This must bo considered highly satisfactory, as ft£ro are certain charges accounted for that arc not likely to recur, and others which way still be subject to reduction. The figures given below in -detail ate for the six months ended February 28:—
Expenses.—Wages., £1392 2s. od,; eoal, £923 19s,- M,; repairs and maintenance, £283 13s. lid.;' berth-ago fees, £129 16s. 10d.; rent, £125; insurance, £69; license fees s £20 10s.; administration and office expenses, £398; charters and allowances, £203 14s.' 9d.: total, £3526 IDs. 4d,; gross cash profit* £1709 Is. od.; grand total, £5236 ' Os. 9d. In comwefcfcin with the above return, it should ho remembered that the figures givonam for the best half, of the year, and it is sot to be expected that the rotarns for tho half-yearly period ending August 3.0 w-itl be as satisfactory.
