We, deem hat rules which plaoo all power in the lands of an executive i 3 against the true ntereat of unionism, is autocratic in its ncidence, and ought not to be tolerated n a, democratic community, and urge the government to compel the officers of tho .Yaterside Workers' Union to correct heir rules so as to -come within the icbpe of- -ordinary trades' union rules, further, that the secretary write to the jight Hon. the Prirao Minister, Minister if Labour, asking him to use his influmco with the Government to this end." Cocks, the missioned, convoyed to tho concert party the hearty thanks of the audience. Before an appreciative,audienco at the rooms of tho Sailors' Friend Society last evening an enjoyable programme was presented by Mrs. J. Lewis. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Mrs. J. Lewis, Miss Marie Makin, Mr. Norman Siopen, Mr. Middleton (s.s. Langholm), and Mr. IV. Jennings. During the evening Mr. Jas. Moore, missioner, delivered a temperauco address, which resulted in three men signing the pledge of total abstinence. Miss Kreeft presented the men with buttonholes, and books for tho various voyages were supplied. A.hearty vote of thanks was given tho performers. The attention of Victoria College students is drawn to the fact that lectures begin according to tho regular timetable on Monday, and that they arc expected to put in an appearance this week, in order to mako preparations for Hinir raurseSi
