Tho viceregal party comprised tho Earl and Countess of Liverpool, Dr. Pomare, tho Hon. W. H. Hcrrira, the Hon. W. 6. l< , . Carncross, Mr. H. J. Okcy, M.P.L and Mr. 0. R.. Wilkinson, M.P., Mr. T. W. Msher, and Judgo J. B. Jack, of the JJativo Land Court. At a reception given by Mrs. Pomaro and party tho visitors wero invested with chiefs' mats, tho Maori band playing an anthom. They wero then led to seats'in front of tho lato To Whiti's house and near his grave. Cliarlio Waiatara, : a 'prominent Native, then presented a. picturesqueTy-worded address of -welcome to "Tho Snow-white Crane which flies twico in a life-time." Native.dances- and demonstrations were also carried out, and the Governor delivered an address, Dr. Pomaro iuterpreting. , After a further address by tho Hon. AV. H. Hordes, the official party wore entertained at dinner in the residence,of tho late Te Whiti, the prophet, "and ,a. number of beautiful (liiricgsjnnd'lihkas took" place.' ; •'•■ / After tho 'Governor's departuro ilr.
