MEETING OP THE HEAD CENTRE
LIST OF AWARDS.
At, a mooting of the Royal Life:siiviiig Society (Wellington Head Centre) last night, Mr. Q. S. Hill presided.
Sis members of the Psekakariki Surf Club presented themselves* for the bronze medallion, examination at To Are Baths on February 21, and at tftoir special request were awarded points for a trophy presented by Mr. James Poster, of Manners Street. It was reported at last night's meeting that five candidates had passed and pined points as fellow:—Frederick (kTiattfeSberger. 77 points; John Sanderson, 74i: Robert James Boyd, 74j; A. A. Fleming, 73; and D. Campbell, 63. The Island Bay Surf-bathing and Lifesaving Club, the Seatoim Preparatory ■College, and the Marist Bros,' Tasman Street School were granted affiliation to the centre.
Tho meeting carried a resolution placing -on record its appreciation of tho action of Mr. A. A. Somerviile in going to Blenheim at short notice to fill a- Rap in the team, which was s«cessfnlin bringing tho Wigram Shield to Wellington. It was decided to place on record the services of Messrs. H. W. Cooper and 6. H. Morgan, two members of the executive, who have recently' been transferred from Wellington. By resolution, Mr. J. A. Duffy was congratulated on the work ho had done towards introducing the life-saving methods into the schools in Wellington. ( A ; of thanks was accorded' Mr! G. H. Neal fer the efficient manner in which he had managed the litWvingteam at- Blenheim. Tho competition for the schoolboys'' cnoMeiiKe shield was fixed for' the end of the mouth, the -arrangements- to Deleft hi the bands the four examiners (Messrs. Collier, Neal, Somerville and Ellis).
A report of tho examiners (Messrs. tr. H. Neal and W, C. Collier)' was placed More the meeting in regard to Mr. t. J. W llson's test for the diploma of Jho society. Tho report showed that tho amy weakness in Mr.- Wilson's performance was that he failed in the first attempt at the "propeller/' It was resolved to forward the report to headquarters k London for dfrec<tion. • ■ ■
Mr, C. H. Bmveft, ot Palmerston JNorth, reported having conducted examinations for the Award of Merit /silver medallion) at Carterton on March 5 Seven candidates were examined, and six passed the test- satisfactorily, their names being :—William C. M. Soraisen, Frank E. Tyler, J. A. B, Lawrence, H. L. Wilson, E. M, Bish, and A. J.' Parton.
