He moved: "That.the train arrangements, being the. same as last year, wcro quito satisfactory, birt tho details in connec- -.' tioir with:;'carryinp; the same into effect 'on the' People's Day, and tho transit of .. stock.before,tho show, left much to bo desired,: and we emphatically protest '• against the unwarrantable delay of the special passenger train from the north of over an hour at Masterton, and at Opaki on the return journey; and'that a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Perry, M'Gregor, and Morrison, , be set up to investigate the matter, with the addition of Mr. G. R,: Sykes,' M.P., and Sir Walter Buchanan, M.l'."--.Mr. ,W. D; Watson stated that there had been'.trouble in the receipt of show stock. Someor-tlie stock from Woodville had .not reached Solway until two o'clock in the morniiiK-' Mr. Q. Donald said the arrangements from tho Lower Valley were most, unsatisfactory. ..-He, thought that if the arrangements were not improved, the ram fair as well as the show would,be seriously .affected. , - - ■ : Mr. W. - Cooper endorsed what had been said by previous speakers. ■ - Mr. Q.'(Donald stated that tho passenger xrain from tho Lower Valley had taken two hours to reach Masterton on.show day. Mr. D. M'Gregor pointed out that'the year before last the arrangements were unsatisfactory. The show . seemed .to clash, with the Woodville races, and he thought something might be. dono to try and avoid tho . clashing. ■Mr. Watson stated that'the races did not affect the show stock.' The president'.stated that the arrangements with-the Head Office were satisfactory. ,It *'as tho administration .that-was at fault. .--. -The resolution was seconded, by Mr. Watson and carried. 1( General Matters., The president expressed satisfaction that Mr. W. Perry had been nominated r to the Board of Agriculture, and congratulated him on his appointment. Mr. Perry acknowledged tho compliment paidhim, and said he would do his very best for tho cause of- agriculture. There was/he said,, a number, of. aufc matters to be dealt with. - ••■ ThoPahiatua A. and P. Association wrote stating that a certain exhibitor had been disqualified; for having written an insulting letter to that body.—lt was decided that the communication' be referred to.the-Council of Agriculture. ' Finance Committee. ; : '.- The Finance Committee's report was road. The -treasurer's report showed ii .credit, balance in the bank of £1320 2s. 4d. The receipts in connection: with the show, etc., , had been as follow: —Show, £1370 3s: 3d.; luncheon, £392 14s. 6d.; .ram fair, £222 4s. 6d.; general'ac',.Count,_iei774.Bs. The poundkeeper also refused to remove cattle from the main entrance to the grounds'. A tender of £3 for the uso of the clover paddock on tho groifiuLwas accepted. The question of grazing forty-two acres of the ground uas hold over, so that an alteration ;might be made as to the termination of tho'terih of grazing. The Ground Committeo decided to meet on tho ground on Wednesday next to discuss certain proposed alterations, tt was decided that two members of the committee be appointed visiting members to act for cno month in turn.
