Several women armed with truncheons closed round Mrs. Pankhurst, and propared to defend her. The police drew their batons and charged the platform, and in the wild struggle that ensued revolvers wero fired from the platform, and miniature bombs explode:!. A number of women and police were injured. Pankhurst was arrested. Several Suffragettes havo been fined for Sunday's disturbances in Trafalgar Square. A REGULAR DONNYBROOK. (Rec. March 11, 0.25 a.m.) London, March 10. Mrs. Paukhurst was captured at Glasgow while attempting to escape. She was bundled into a motor car. Hundreds of women attempted a rescue, but tho mounted police rushed tho crowd, and Mrs. Pankhurst was taken to tho polico station. Meanwhile the fight continued at tho hall. A dozen women on the platform produced stout truncheons and stood behind a barbed wire fence concealed by flowers, hurled flower-pots, and chairs, and poured pails of water on the policemon who were attempting to scale the four-foot platform. Tho polico used their batou3 freely, and many women fainted. l Later the crowd attempted to storm the police station, but several hundred constables repulsed thorn.
