MORE INDIAN COOLIES ARRIVE

Fivo more Indian coolies from Fiji arrived by the Island steamer Navua this morniiig to swell tho ranks of their fellow-countrymen who have already settled in the Dominion, and particularly this part of r it. Tho newcomers were aulo to satisfy the very meagro test in :English required by the Immigration Act, and they aro now entitled to all tho privileges oi colonists who have not been naturalised. Already there "is. more, than a sprinkliiiß of. their compatriots in tho Auckland district. Hawking fruit and similar commodities seems to bn the Favourite calling for Indians to adopt. They originally como out to Fiji as workers in the sugar-cano plantations, and some of them, who apparently prefer work in the fields, tako- up positions as farm labourers when they come to New Zealand. T/'.ere are two or three lots of them working on farms down the Main Trunk line. At the present time '1\ Indians appear on the hook's of the Auckland City Couucil as holding hawkers' 'license*.
