A CONSTABLE TO THE RESCUE. At about 6.25 p.m. yesterday, when the F. and S. liner Ayrshire was clearing the Glasgow Wharf preparatory to proceeding ■ to Avonmouth, a coal worker, named Robert AValUor, who resides at Kaiwarra, slipped and fell between, the' vessel and tho wharf. Constablo Johnston succeeded in pulling tho man out of tho water, but in doing so the officer's hands suffered severely, tho flesh of the finger-tips being'burst'opoii. Walker,.who appeared to bo none tho worse for his 'adventure, was able to proceed to his home.
