Cardinal Eampolla's will, made in 18!)!!. leaving .£IO,OOO to his sister, lias not been granted probate, owing to .impending litigation. Princess Altieri, wife of the Duke of Cauipobello, _ tlio Cardinal's nephew, from whom she is living apart, claims the existence of a later will. A search previously made foe the document, however, proved fruitless. Proof that the Cardinal's missing- ■ will has been stolen is said to have befcn obtained, and it is thought that, his tragic end and the disappearance of the will may both he connected with a daring plot. A Central News message appearing in the' "Jlessagero" states that tlue .Court ordered the exhumation of the body,of the late Cardinal Eampolla and tho performance _of ■a post-mortem examination, there being suspicions that the sudden death of His Eminence and the disappearance of his will may be connected. Baffling, indeed, is the mystery that enshrouds the whereabouts of the-document. • It is believed to have conferred benefits on the children of Princess Teodolinda Alt.iero, wife of the Cardinal's nephew, the Duke of Campobello, from whom, however, she has lived apart for two years past. The will is supposed to have been in black box, kept under the Cardinal's pillow during his last illness, and it is asserted that the box was removed within a -very short time after his death. Tbe identity of the person who removed it, however, is not known. There was an earlier will to the one in Question, substantial bequests b?ing made to Baroness Car«liia RamppllaPemnn,', Cardinal. Eampolla's sister, but it. is declared that during recent years there had been some estrangement between brother and, sister.
