THE FLETCHER BENEFIT.
CREDIT OVER £144. Mr. F. J. Courtenay occupied the chair at the winding-up meeting of tiio committee which arranged the Denefit concert for tho widow of the lato Mr. H. N. Fletcher (the popular tenor singer), which took placo in January. Tho balance-sheet ' presented by Messrs. J. Dykes and 11. A. Keen an (secretary and treasurer) showed'the following receipts Tickets sold privately, £94 Is. 6d.; Dresden sales, £22 Bs.; tickets sold at doors, £18 125.; amount handed to the Mayor bv Mr. B. R. Grange, £30; total, £165 Is. 6d. Tho expenses were: —Advertising, £17 3s. Kl.; petty charges, £2 18s. Id.; balance to credit, £144 19s. lid. It was decided that Mr. Courtenay and His Worship the Mayor act as trustees in connection with tho disposition of tho money for tho benefit of Mrs. Fletcher. Mr. Courtenay said that it must bo gratifying to' tho lato Mr. Fletcher's llasonio brethren, and also to his numerous privato friends to learn how successful the concert r.ad been, and on behalf of tho committee he expressed many thanks to all who had assisted in bringing about such a result. Mr. A. W. Newton said that ho did not think that onyono ill particular required to bo thanked. Mr. Fletcher was a very popular man, who had a great many friends, and everyone had been only too happy to do all they could to mako tho coiiccrt a success On tho motion of Mr. H. Scaton a voto of thanks was passed-to tho secretary and treasurer.
