FIVEPENCE A QUART.
MILK GOING UP. Members of tho Wellington Milk Vendors' Association met last evening to consider tho question of raising the price of milk, during tho winter months, from fourpence to fivepenco por quart. So mo differenco of opiuiou appears to exist and the position as a consequence is a little involved. At last evening's meeting a proposal was mooted that ■ tho increaso_ should dato from March 1, and remain in forco for six months. A protest against this was entered by Mr. Henry Bodley, who contended that the increase should tako effect from April 1 and remain in forco for 1 fivo months. Ho ,holds, with other vendors, that the:period of threo months during which tho price of milk was raised last winter was inadequate. Mr. Bodley informed a reporter last evening that ho had entered a protest against tho course proposed at the meeting and intended to seek legal advice in tlio matter. Ho added that ho had managed to get tho proposal held up meantime on tho rules of tho Association, and that it would com<i up again for consideration at a meeting on March 11. Past proceedings i. in. the. matter, Mr.' Bodley contends, havo:.bepn,in some degree irregular. In support of his contention that the increase in the price of milk should dato from April; 1, ho mentioned that it was proposed , by tho milk-vendors in Palmerston North to raiso tho price of their commodity on that dato.
