BOISTEROUS WEATHER.
YACHTS AND LAUNCHES 'ADRIFT. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland,' February 27. The liigh-wind raised a big sea in ■the harbour yesterday afternoon, and .the small craft were buffeted about. The fleet of yachts and launches anchored along the northern shores of tho harbour wore exposed to tho full. force of the blow and consequently were straining heavily on their cables. .The gale proved too severe for several small craft which were not securely anchored, and ono or two broke from their moorings. The yacht Ena broke adrift, and was carried across the harbour before the gale, but was secured in tho vicinity of tho cable steamer Iris by the Harbour Board's pilot launch Waitemata. An oil launch also broke adrift from its moorings in tho-harbour, and drifted into Rangitoto Channel.
Tho Maitai, which arrived on time from southern ports, met with rough ''weather all the way from the East Capo to Auckland. The gale appears to have been very severe .on the • West Coast, and, in consequence of tho rougli stato of the Manukau bar, all steamen sailings from Onehunga were postponed until tho conditions improved.'
