COMMERCIAL-BANK OF AUSTPiALASIA, LTD. For-some months'past the premises recently purchased by the Cotumercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., have-'been'SJi-dergomg extensive alterations and additions, and on and after Monday, March 3, the "Wellington business will be conducted in the now premises. The-main entrance has been provided with white marble steps and porch asui in the entrance hall is a, handsome scheme of mosaic tiling. The internal fittings are of carved cedar, and these hare.been arranged to provide ample accojnmodatiou for the bank's clients and staff, also to allow of future expansion. -The main building is subdivided by a largo concrete wall, architecturally treated to harmonise with the existing style of 'internal decoration, the whole forming a symmetrical and effective mterior to the banking chamber. The manager's' room h?,s been co-inplrteiv remodelled to suit modern requirements.

The existing strong-rooms. havo ; also been improved, and a largo "Cliubbs" door is to be installed in place of ta-o existing one. A stationery room has been provided at the rear, also extensive lavatory accommodation for the bank oa>d its staff and tenants. More space, bus been obtained for those extensions by cutting; into the. eliff at the hack of the building and ercctinj* a reinforced■concrete retaining-wall with solid concrete* girders supporting it from the raam.bflitding.

A fine suite- of offices on the Lanibton Quay frontage, which consists of _cntratwo hall, manager's room, countingbouse, strong-room, and lavatories, has boon provided for tenants upon tho ground llnor of the building, and tlio bank will also have rooms available for tenants upon tho first floor. The building has been completely overhauled from tho foundations to the roof. The architect was Mr. F. dc J. Clero, P.11.1.8.A., and the contractors Messrs. Meyer and Co.
