CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
Sir,—ln your issue of the 23th inst., under the heading "Alleged Cruelty to a Horso," it appears that Mr; Seed, Inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to • AnMftals, some time, since warned a- certain carter Hot to work a horse that was totally unfit' to work.' As, however, the carter ignored this warning prior to -bringing the case into: Court, Mr. Seed obtained the opinion of two (folly qualified veterinary surgeons, ' who, after careful examination, certified that the horse was quite unfit to work, Mr. E. W; Burton, S.M., however, before whom the case ,was : heard, dismissed tho charge,' stating that he considered the-cose not sufficiently strong to satisfy him that there had been, guilty knowledge on the part' of' dcfend'aiii. 1 trust that the society, in question will net allow the matter to drop bore, \tmt that they will obtain full particulars'of the evidence, ,as taken down in tho Magistrate's'.
