PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
The fort-nightly meeting of the Wellington branch of the Society for the J'Krontioa rtf Cruelty to Animals was held yesterday afternoon, Mv. V. IS. Meredith presiding. Collections itmuitti'vtg to £7 98. wore reported, including £1 Is. each from .Mr. J. H, Blair and Kirkealtlio ami Stains, l,td. It was reported that the PaJmerston branch had dccidtv.l to prosccnts in the recent case ot cruelty to coach horees at Foxtoii, brought under their nctico by tho Wellington branch. Ten cases ot cruelty to animals were reported by Inspector Seed., One cr.se was of cruelty to sheep, through branilifiK on the jaw. It was decided to refer the matter to the Hawke's Bay Society, from whose district the complaint emanated.
