AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
RETURN AMERICAN MEETING,
A' meeting of tho Council of the Now Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last night. There were present:—Messrs. J. H. Pollock (in the chair), M. Burnett, B. A. Guise, W. H. Pollock, E. L. Chaffoy, and J. Cusack. Business was mainly to deal with arrangements for tho American meeting on February 28. The following officials were appointed for tho meeting:—Referee, Mr. A. Marryatt; stewards, Dr. Newman; Messrs. R. W. M'Villy, R. E. Bannister, W. H. Pollock, T. Brodie, W. F. Larkin, and E. M. Poixotto; track judges, Messrs. C. E. Bridge, M. Burnett, B. A. Guiso; field judges, Messrs. J. Doyle, W. H. Jones, T. Ronaldson, E. A. Dawson, J. Hconan, son., L. M'Kay; time-keepers, Messrs. H. Langdon, A. Laurenson, T.' Crouch, L. W. Ludwig, and W. N. Tucker; standard time-keeper; Mr. J. H. Pollock; judge of-walking, Mr. J. E. Ellis; marshal and clerk of course, Mr. J. C. Cusack; starter, Mr. T. W. Leslie; handicappers, Messrs. A. C. Kitto, W. H. Thompson, and W. H. Pollock; marksmen, Messrs. A. Davis, W. H. Hardham, and A. W. '1 ravers; press stewards, Messrs. J. Hconan, H. W. Thompson; result board, Messrs. E. L. Cliaft'ey and F. Braco; call stewards,. Messrs. H. J. Pollock, F. Turner, G. S. Hill, and J. Auld; number steward, Mr. J. Palmer; cos-' tume steward, Mr. J. C. Cusack; me°-a-phonist, Mr. C. Laiiiberg; surveyor, Mr. ir Tr r , Hnnif y; surveyor's steward, Mr. G. S. Hill. It was decided that H. Martis (tho Wnngiinui sprinter) and G. Harvey (Masterton pole-yaulter) should bo given rT special invitation to attend the meeting to coniHcto with the Americans. was decided to dispense with the services of a band at tho meeting. It was decided to put on a 100 yards scratch raco between Pnrker and Martis (New Zealand champion), n, 440 yards scratch between Parker, Martis, and J. [Wilton. An endeavour will also bo made to arrange a scratch distance race between Parker and another competitor to be selected. It was announced that, tlio American ■toam could arrive in Wellington on Thursday next. During their stay in Wellington, Mr. Peixotto, the manager, will deliver a lantern lecture in the Concert Chamber of tho Town Hall.
