Board and Creed opened Hawke's Bay's second innings. Laver trundled from tho school end, and his second ball was sent through the slips to the boundary by Board, who also drove his last ball to the off for four. Board brought up 10 with a "fourer" off Armstrong, but the latter's nest over saw Creecf smartly taken in tho slips. Hindmarsh, the next man, added 14 by good cricket before being boded by Armstrong.; Fulton followed, and be and Board batted until tho luncheon adjournment, tho score being then 77— Board, 36; Fulton, 25. Play was resumed at 2.25. p.m., and, at 91, Armstrong got through.Fulton's defence, and ■ shortly afterwards clean hoiyled Board.
