FIGHTING POLITICAL PLATFORM

At tho invitation of the Wellington main branch tof the United Labour party a well-attended meeting was held at tho Trades Hall, Cuba Street, last night of delogates from Trade's Unions and political branches, to consider the general political situation and plans for future work. Mr. D.. M'Laren (presilent of tho main brancli) was voted to the chair, and Mr. J. M'Kenzio was elected secretary- to'tho conference. This was the first 1 meeting of the conference. Intimation was given that unions that had not met since .the invitation was sent out would bo likely to send delegates to tho next meeting. ' After full discussion it was decided to draft recommendations for n lighting political platform, and a committee was appointed to take tho matter in hand antl to report to the next meeting,of the conference, which was fixed for Friday, ."February 27. An interesting discussion took place on some of tho current political issues and the .best lines of policy to be adopted in respect of tie forthcoming general elections. ~
