ODDFELLOWS' CONFERENCE.
« — . (By Telegraph.—Prom Association.) jPahiatua, February 18. The consolidation 'of sick funds—a matter of considerable importance to friendly societies —was discussed at the Oddfellows' Conference for the Wellington district to-day. A motion was proposed by Bro. D. T. Loasby, Greytown Lodge, as follows: —"That tho time has arrived when ■ all sick funds'of lodges be consolidated." . The mover declared that the time would come when tho proposal would be an assured fact. Another speaker considered that 'it "would be in tho interests of tho smaller Lodges, and that amalgamated funds couid be more profitably invested. Bro. Ibbotson. (Newton) contended that grants for sickness would be greater under consolidation than at present. He urged members to maintain their individuality. Several ethers condemned the proposal, and Bro. Loasb.v's motion was defeated by a big majority. Bro. Guy (Britannia Lodge, Wellington) was elected Grand Master for the ensuing jcar.
