After/a conference at the White House it became known that the Democratic members of the Lower Houso intend 'to oppose Dr. Wilson's attitude regarding the Panama Canal tolls.' The Inter-State Commerce Committee refuses to . consider the. reopening of the question; consequently there is danger of splitting up the party. An announcement is probable. , _ This opposition has surprised the President, who thought everything was plain sailing; but a secret opposition has been ' developing during tho last few days. • • Dr. Wilson, however, is determined to adhere to his present attitude.
