TO A HOSPITAL BOAED. ' (By Telegraph.r-Spcciol Cortespopdent.) : Palmorston, February 17. An interesting poiftt was raised in the Magistrate's Court in a clsirrt by the Hospital Beard against W. Wcekes' for £i IDs. as maintenance of his son when tho latter was in tho Hospital in 1897. The'defence relied on the; Statute of Limitations, the debt being nearly 17 years old. Claimants, however, stated that defendant's wife had paid £1.0 en account more recently, arid had thereby revived the debt. Mr. Moore, for. the defence, contended that this payment by the wife did apt bind the husband. The board also contended that tho debt was a statutory one, the same as a. mortgape under the Land Transfer Act, and therefore had 20 years' life.
