Tryon (Unionist) regretting tho Government's refusal to modify tho fiscal system by adopting Imperial preference and imposing 10 per omit, ad valorem duty on foreign goods, was rejected. Mr. Banar Law (Leader of the Opposition) said that if the question had iytt becom-o a party ono, the Chancellor of tho Exchequer would he proposing this year tho systetn which tho Opposition was now recommending. As the Government's social reform had increased the cost of production, tins least we could do was to impose a duty to reduce tlio severity of foreign, competition. When tho ' Unionists camo into power they would see.that every part of tho Empire was treated better than tho rest of the world. .
