MARCH PAST.
•MELBOURNE TROOPS TAKEN BY ■'■'■'. ■/.; SURPRISE. . fey Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Melbourne, "February 16. The review of tho Metropolitan troops is not likely tfo have created a favourable impression in tho mind of General Sir lan Hamilton (Inspector-General of the Oversea Forces), who was kept waiting five minutes before the officers were aware he had arrived. Embarrassing delay in arranging the troops' salute'occurred. The massed bands were so far away that they could hardly bo heard. . The General expressed himself pleased with the work of the men and the way they marched past, but said a ceremonial parado did not give a reviewing officer a chance of seeing how the officers handled the men. They must not be taken'by surprise; a general must be looked upon as an enemy, because he tried to' pick holes in everything, They should be ready for him. '
