Early in February, under an order of attachment, Frank Harris, director of th'o journal "Modern Society," was arrested for publishing comments on .the impending Welvillo-Platt-Fit/.william divorce case. . Tho "Modern Society's" article included references to Earl Fitzwilliam as a "sly dot;" for concealing the Melvilli) episode while the King'and Queen were visiting him in Yorkshire' in the summer. It, commented on Lady Fitzwilliam's attitude, suggesting that she could tell a story about her husband. When Harris appeared in the King's Bench Division of tho High .Court, on February 3, Mr., Justice Hor'ridge stated that tho .journal's comments Yiyero extremely .objectionable, and prejudicial to tho co-respondent. They were not a sample of what the Press of England did. He committed Harris to prison for an indefinite 'period., Harris, said the Judge, has had an opportunity to apologise", but had not done so. .It is non- ropoi-ted that Harris has apologised nnd that he. is to be released on February 24.
