BURGLARIES IN HASTINGS.
LARGE SUM IN CASH STOLEN, (By T«lcerarh.-Pre«a AesociatSon.) Hastings, February 14. ' It is. reported that G. F. llo&ch's grocoiy storo was burglariously entered mid about £200 in cash taken. Thethie\es left a number of cheques and jYwelleiy, which were in tho safe whilb the fam'ilv was away at tho seaside. Tho police decline to tho report or give tho reporters any information. Torrential rain fell during the early hours of. the inoining—2.fiom. being registered— and it is supposed that tho thieves took advantage of the noise, ocOiisionod by the downpour and tho deserted streets to cjrry out their work. Two minor burglaries, in which thehouses of people who wore camping _on the beaoh woie entered and clothing Gtolen, are reported. In ono of tho houses yesterday, the brother of the occupier was looking round to seo that all was right, when ho was startled bv a man springing out of iho cuphoo.rd nnd making good his escape The thief in the other houso spent a comfortable night in tho bed of the man he was robbing , .
