■ - ~—r* ——• ■ ■ ' ONCE MORE IN THE COURT. . (By" Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, February 13-. The spurious "Lord Innes Ker," known, to tTio police as Evelyn Vine. Ividson, who was very much in evidence at San Francisco .some time ago and more recently' at Wellington, appeared before tho Court at Hamilton today to answer a chargo of having obtained £8 10s. from Schneidemarin , Bros, by means of a valueless cheque • for £10. Chief Detective Brobsrg stated that accused was very , well known to tho police and carried a number; of names. He was variously known as Allan Gordon Palmer, Albert. Gibbs Clifford, Dr. Innes Ker, ancT Lord Innes Ker. He had posed as a lord or a duke in 1907 when he was in Australia, and it was found that, by the end of 1911, he had a record of eleven convictions, comprising forgeries, false pretences, and theft; On November 1-5, 1911, he was charged at Auckland with attempted suicide and also with false pretences, and was sentenced to seven years'-reformative treatment. Ho subsequently eluded arresfc by departing for America, but was deported back to New Zealand. Wh[lo in Court to-day Kidson was ! wearing a ready-made sporting jacket and ill-fitting blue'trousers, and his appearance was anything but that of an : English lord. He was remanded until February 19. as other charges are pend- ' ing against him.
