Auckland, February' 9, An action by tho Northern Waiioß Co-operative Dairy Co. against William Thomas Hunt, farmer,, of Ruavrni, claunuig £100 for alleged defamation was continued at the Supreme Conn this morningThe alleged defamation arose out of a statement attributed to tho defendant at a meeting of farmers which was bold at Rnawai for tho purpose of cbn.fiidering a proposal to slai t a factory in opposition to plaintiff's venture. In tho courso of a discussion on tho operation of the Northern YVairoa Qo'., defendant was allfgcd to have declared that the company "paid a bonus by increasing the overdratt, calling up the shoie.capital, and showing on llio balance-sheet bultel' that it had not made or sold." This allegation ot malpractice, it waa claimed, seiiously damaged the reputation of Ihn company. Tho defence denied tho uso of the words complained of. Tho case- is protoe'ding.
