MOTOR ACCIDENT.
TO LOCAL BOWLERS. An unfoitunato motoring accident <KN cuired on the Hutt Bond ycbterday lo a party of local bowleis, who were' accompanying tlio Australian visitors ou theirjibit to the residence of the Hon. John Outhio, M.L.C., at the Nai Nai, As tlio ear, 3ri\cn and onnod by Mr. James. Trevor (of the Now town Club) swerved in its course to take the deviaWmi mado immodiately ois the south tide of Ngahaniairgn, tlio two left-sido wheels of iho car broke off sharu at Iho hubs, without the slightest wanting, nud two of the occupants, Messrs. Donald M'Lcan (pievident of the Wellington ClubJ and W. Wylie (Newlowit Club) were huilod with some forco on to tlio load, as the manned car dragged lts«lf to i\ standstill. Mr, Trevor, who was driving, letained his seal, and Mr. J. Ciallia (of tlie INowloivn Clubi, who also had a firm grip of the car at tlio time of the- accident, was ilirown out on top of Mr. H.vlio. The lattor only received a Brazing wound ou tlio lower shin, and Mr. Ticvor vns uninjured. Tlio other occupants of tho cor weio loss fnrluuatp. Mr. M'L<-an, in falling, broke and dislocated the middle finger of the right hand, and icceivod .». bo\»ro gash over the eye, and other minor ruts about tlie face. Mr. Wylio was rcndeied unconscious by tho fall, but recovered in a few minutes, when ho protested that ho wab all right, though obviously suffering from bliock. Both, men «ore- brought oaclr to tew n 1)V some of the other ears conveying tho visiting bowlers, and received piompt medical attention. Tho accident is presumed to have been caused by tho rear wheel of the damaged car catching in tho tram rails that cross the road at that point, and that in trying to steer tho car romid tho bend the wheel broko instead of jumpiiiK tho rail. The accident, cast a gloom over tho party during tho morning, and anxiouo inquiries wero mado respecting tho condition of tlio injured men a« soon as the party returned to town at noon. During tho evening it was ascertained that Mr. Wylio had ouly sustained a few Email cuts and bruises, and had recovered from tho shock.
