Poison), speaking-at tile monthly meeting of the council,_ said that -the scheme, had been more* than self-supporting, and was proving a source, of revenue. the ilangamiilru line, hn exceptionally long one, was orected for £160, and yet there were already , sixteen subscribers- at £3 a | year. Tho £3 paid.by subscribers ifi- | eluded machine and ' everything. The council put up the main line, and each subscriber connected it- with his own house. It was tho cheapest telephone service he knew of.
