•'• NATIONAL EXECUTIVE, ' The-.National Executive of the New Zealand Political Reform League mot yesterday at tho League offices, Ballanco Street, Mr. E. H. Williams presiding. The Prime Minister, who was in attendance- during a portion of the proceedings, was heartily congartulated fipon_ his recovery from his recent severe illi'es's. A resolution, expressing tho. ■sympathy felt for him, and tho regret of the members, that''he should Lave been laid'aside during the Christmas .holidays, was carried unanimously.'' Mr. E. C. Huie, ono of the Canterbury members; of the executive, wrote '^tendering. his resignation, consequent . upon his acceptahco of the editorship of tho new Christchurch evening paper. Tho resignation was accepted with regret, appreciation boing expressed of Mr. Huio'sivaluahle services-.as a memlier of the,executive-, and.'a minuto being made to. that effect. Mr. Gilbert Carson, who received the highest number of votes polled by tho unsuccessful candidates .for seats on tho National Executive,.. at the, Octobor' Conference, was elected to tho vacant position. ■•• ■ Encouraging reports. were received from the organisers",. and it was stated that yery desirable candidates">would be forthcoming for most of the seats now held by Oppositionists at the general elections, and that tho : prospects .■' for such'-candidates wero' generally good. Other business transacted was of a.more' or less confidential character, committees being set up to.-deal with the more urgent matters, pending tho noxt,meotIng of the executive,, which was fixed for I'hursday, ;May .7....-.:. ..'...
