KAIMATA TRAGEDY
ECHO IN THE SUPREME COURT. (By Teleeraph.-Presß Association.) .■ , Now Plymouth, February 4. An echo of tho Kaimata tragedy/in Which Gladys Julian, Frank Smith, and Edward Julian were killed by Frederick James Virgin was heard in tho Supreme Court to-day, when Eva Julian, tho widow of Edward Julian, proceeded agdinst Publip Trustee for £820 as tho valu& of tho house and furniture destroyed by firo by Virgin. The children, Verncr Julian and Dorothy Julian, who escaped from the i house whore the crime was committed again told the story of the murder with harrowing details. ■ ' The" case for the defendant was that there were no facts to prove that Virgin wilfully caused tho fire. It was argued that, although Virgin committed mur■.d * r V.yet-ho was insane, and the fire mieht have been accidental. ! Mrs. Virgin/was called to prove that Julian s furniture was not so valuable .as plaintiff claimed.. After lengthy evidence the jury found for £720 damages. , . "• -.■.-■ ■■-..'■•
